OYS-TRUANCY REDUCTION PROJECT, 13085

1. Purpose

The purpose of the Truancy Reduction Program is to assist the public schools to understand how to address and reduce the number of incidents of student truancies. The project will consist of presenting both national and local research on the issues and trends relating to truancy, and present "best practices" dealing with truancy which schools may utilize, which includes; developing a toolkit which will be available to K-12 schools to use to deal with the problem of truancy, developing a public service announcement to inform the community about the problem of truancy, and encouraging the community to become involved in decreasing the number of student truancies.

2. Rationale for Allocation

$51,000 in "T" funds will be allocated to the Student Support Section, ORG. ID. 032000 of the Department of Education to implement the Truancy Reduction Project.

3. Guidelines for Implementation

The funds shall be expended per provisions of the contract and in accordance with the guidelines found in the "FMS User Policy & Process Flow Guide," personnel rules and regulations, and procurement laws.
