B. ALLOCATION PROPOSAL
GENERAL FUND ALLOCATIONS ARE TENTATIVE. THE AMOUNTS ALLOCATED MAY BE REDUCED BY EXECUTIVE RESTRICTIONS AND/OR INTERNAL REDUCTIONS.
CLASS SIZE REDUCTION, 15103
1. Purpose
The purpose of the Class Size Relief program is to provide additional resources to ensure that the class size in grades K-2 statewide will be 25 students or less per class (excluding new century charter schools and new century conversion charter schools) and provide additional support through Class Size Reduction part-time teachers for fifteen (15) hours per week in combination classes for grades 3 through grade 6.
2. Rationale for Allocation
To ensure the department is in compliance with the intent of ACT 51 and provide delivery of instruction support to students/teachers who are housed in combination class configuration in grades 3-6 throughout the course of a school day. The following are the requirements to receive the additional support:
1) class size of 27 regular education students or more from two (2) grade levels in grade 3 through grade 6.
2) equitable distribution of two (2) grade levels in grade 3 through grade 6 which form the 27 regular education students or more in the combination class.
3) self contained classroom configuration throughout the course of a school day (self-contained).
4) class list submittal to the district.
5) random school level review of the Class Size Combo PTT program.
3. Guidelines for Implementation
Resources will be available to elementary schools to maintain the class size in grades K-2 at 25 students or less and to grades 3-6
when the combination class configuration(s) are verified through the submittal of the Class List and Combo PTT request form.
Funds are to be expended in accordance with the guidelines found in the "FMS User Policy & Process Flow Guide," personnel rules and regulations, and procurement law.
4. Allocation of Resources
$970,770 in "A1" funds is allocated to the Central Salary Account, ORG. ID. 468000.
