INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT CENTERS, 25754

1. Purpose
The technology support centers are heavily used by various groups within the DOE to conduct training on various instructional and administrative computer programs. The centers are equipped with a variety of computer equipment and peripherals, including at some sites video conferencing equipment. The centers need to be supported.

2. Rationale for Allocation
The centers are maintained and supported by Data Processing User Support Technicians (DPUST). The DPUSTs conduct training on computer application software of a statewide nature, such as FMS, Mac/Win School, Time & Attendance, and Casual Payroll. They also support training activities at the centers that are conducted by other groups. Examples are ISPED and Safe School Information System on-line training. There are 4 centers located on the neighbor islands and 6 located on Oahu that are supported by the DPUSTs. The 4 neighbor island centers are permanently staffed by one DPUST each. The remaining 7 DPUSTs are assigned to service Oahu, but also provide supplemental support to the neighbor island centers as needed.

3. Guidelines for Implementation
Funds are to be expended in accordance with the guidelines found in the "FMS User Policy & Process Flow Guide," personnel rules and regulations, and procurement law.

4. Allocation of Resources
$396,516 in "A" funds is allocated to ORG. ID. 049000 for the salaries of 11.00 PERM FTE DPUST positions.
