B. ALLOCATION PROPOSAL
NATIVE HAWN SURR DEV-HAWN IMMERSION, 13038
1. Purpose
To support a curriculum development project in Hawaiian Language Immersion middle schools. The project involves curriculum that supports the utilization of technology tools for community history projects.
2. Rationale for Allocation
$118,917 is allocated to OCI - Hawaiian Studies & Language Programs (Org ID 038000) for the following purposes:
a. Personal Services
$56,000 to support a FTE Project Coordinator who would develop Hawaiian language materials for use in Immersion middle schools and coordinate appropriate personnel.
b. Other Personal Services
$14,000 to support personal service contracts for participating middle school teachers who will contribute to the creation of materials and train other teachers in the use of the materials.
c. Other expenses
$48,217 for the purchase of equipment and software necessary for the project and to support travel, per-diem and/or stipends for participating teachers.
3. Guidelines for Implementation
a. One FTE allocated to OCISS, ISB, Hawaiian Studies and Language Programs Section as Project Coordinator.
b. The materials developed by project staff and others will be available to all Immersion sites. Training will be available to all Immersion teachers and others.
c. Other expenses may include fees and substitute days to support the participation of those involved in appropriate training.
