B. ALLOCATION PROPOSAL
NATIVE HWN CURR DEV-NA MAMO A LILILEHUA, 13039
1. Purpose
The purposes of the Na Mamo A Liliehua project are:
(1) To develop a standards based curriculum and textbook in Hawaiian Studies for grades 4-5;
(2) To enhance teacher in-service training that enables teachers to work effectively with students of Hawaiian ancestry while raising their academic and cultural achievement;
(3) To increase pre-teacher training efforts conducted in the Hawaiian language that employ culturally appropriate pedagogical approaches to prepare student teachers to work with K-12 students of Hawaiian ancestry; and
(4) To increase the number of teachers of Hawaiian ancestry, especially in the field of Language Arts, by expanding recruitment efforts.
2. Rationale for Allocation
This is the second year of a three year grant award from he US Department of Education.
$267,800 is allocated to Anuenue School (Org. ID 103) for planned program activities.
$5,744 is allocated to OBS - Accounting Section (Org. ID 899) for indirect costs (2.1% of grant award).
3. Guidelines for Implementation
Funds are to be used for planned program activities as described in the approval grant application. Funds are expended in accordance with the guidelines found in the "FMS User Policy & Process Flow Guide," personnel rules and regulations, and procurement law.
