B. ALLOCATION PROPOSAL

SPECIAL ED PRE-SCHOOL GRANT FY02, 17035

1. Purpose
Coordination of services for children with disabilities ages 3 to 5, including:
a) Transition of children and families into and out of preschool special education services in the DOE.
b) Inclusion of children with disabilities with their non - disabled peers in developmentally appropriate activities.
c) Parent education and involvement.
d) Training and technical assistance.

2. Rationale for Allocation
To support the efforts of districts and schools to implement preschool objectives.

3. Guidelines for Implementation
Hawaii District - East Special Education - $5,000 to cover travel expenses for 619 Project.
Kilauea Elementary School - $12,000 for the final year of the Kilauea Inclusion Project.
Maui District Special Education - $5,000 to cover the travel expenses for 619 Project.
Pohakea Elementary School - $1,400 to cover the participation expenses of preschool special education teacher on the Leeward STEPS team.
OCI - Sp. Ed. Section - $43,234 to be suballocated to assist Districts with their various needs.
