LAHAINALUNA BOARDING DEPT, 16173

1. Purpose
To provide students with a well-rounded educational program to develop themselves vocationally, socially, and culturally through a unique live-in situation.

2. Rationale for Allocation
The Lahainaluna Boarding Department is located on the Lahainaluna High School grounds. The Lahainaluna Boarding Department provides students who come from economically deprived disadvantaged, and/or alienated homes and school environments as better self-concept through various activities of the school and the boarding program. Additionally, the program goals are to create in student desirable habits, self-sufficiency, self-discipline and an understanding and acceptance of responsibility.

The scope of the total program is as follows: 120 boarders living in two dormitories, working fifteen hours per week in various work stations on campus and on the school farm in line with the school's vocational-technical program objectives in agriculture, building and construction, and auto mechanics.

"B" funds are allocated to Lahainaluna Boarding Department for planned program activities.

3. Guidelines for Implementation
The Maui District Office oversees the expenditures made by the Lahainaluna Boarding Department.

Program funds should primarily be expended to maintain the Lahainaluna Boarding Department and to meet the program goals for students living in the dormitories.

Funds are to be expended in accordance with the guidelines found in the "FMS User Policy & Process Flow Guide," personnel rules and regulations, and procurement law.
