B. ALLOCATION PROPOSAL
TECHNOLOGY LITERACY CHALLENGE FUND FY03, 16346
1. Purpose
To provide resources to support the implementation of statewide strategies to improve student academic achievement through the use of technology in schools; assist all students in becoming technologically literate by the end of the eighth grade; and encourage the effective integration of technology with teacher training and curriculum development to establish successful research-based instructional methods.
2. Rationale for Allocation
$153,922 is being allocated to Advanced Technology Research Branch, Vicki Kajioka, Director, as an advance of the ESEA "Enhancing Education Through Technology" funds. ATRB will coordinate the sub allocation to school partnership and state/district offices. These suballocations will support statewide initiatives using educational technology products and services, and school partnerships based upon competitive grant applications which are reviewed by a selection committee coordinated by ATRB. Members of the committee will include representatives from the Department of Education, business and industry.
3. Guidelines for Implementation
Funds are to be expended in accordance with the guidelines found in the "FMS User Policy and Process Flow Guide," personnel rules and regulations, and procurement law.
